Best Board Butter 3oz

We recently switched to all wood cutting boards in our kitchen and learned that they needed to be maintained with wood conditioner to keep from warping, drying out, or cracking. We searched high and low for a good board butter that doesn't contain mineral oil, but came up empty-handed, so we created our own! Almost all board butters, even those from high-end retailers, are made with “food-safe” mineral oil. Mineral oil comes from refining crude oil (petroleum) and isn’t biodegradable. No, thank you! Our board butter is crafted with 3 clean and simple ingredients - nourishing golden jojoba oil (which we like to call liquid gold), USA beeswax, and Italian Bergamot (for a fresh, clean scent). Give your cutting boards and wooden utensils the best care possible with only the finest ingredients. After all, if you wouldn’t put it on your skin, do you really want it on your food surfaces?

Directions: Make sure the board is clean and dry. With clean dry fingers, dig out a dab of butter and slather on a thin layer, massaging it in a circular motion like you’re waxing a car. Make sure to cover both sides and all four edges. (Any excess can be applied to your hands/elbows like lotion. No sense in wasting a single drop!) Wait a couple of hours (or overnight) for the oils to soak in. Then buff lightly in the direction of the wood grain with a clean cloth or paper towel to reveal a beautifully conditioned board. Reapply every 2-3 weeks, or when wood starts to feel dry to the touch.

Note: Our butters may melt or get super soft in hot summer weather. We’ll wrap them in insulation and cold packs when it’s over 90 degrees, but they may still melt during transit. If the tin feels warm when you receive it, put it in the fridge  for 30 minutes before opening to prevent spills.
